Work Incentive Planning and Assistance (WIPA)

Mission of the program:

To enable Social Security beneficiaries with disabilities to make informed decisions about work, benefits, and incentives.

Services provided by Community Work Incentive Coordinators include:

• Resources and referral - free benefit related information provided over the telephone or in-person, referrals to additional services, and problem solving for individuals with benefit concerns.
• Presentations - free, formal benefit training for consumers, professionals, and community members who would like to learn more about specific Social Security, Medicaid, or Medicare benefits.
• Benefit analysis - a free, individualized, written plan that presents how work affects all benefits including work incentives, health care options, overall financial situation, and information about wage reporting.
• Plan to Achieve Self-Support (PASS) - free assistance provided in planning, writing, and coordinating PASS plans for those who have specific vocational goals.
• Follow up benefit management - free on-going follow up support is offered to assist individuals with continuing to understand benefits and wage reporting.

Community Work Incentive Coordinators can help you understand how work affects:

• SSI  - Supplemental Security Income
• SSDI - Social Security Disability Insurance
• Health Insurance - Medical Assistance, Medicare, other health programs
• Food Share
• Subsidized housing

Community Work Incentive Coordinators (C-WICs):

Community Work Incentive Coordinators are available to meet with you if you receive Social Security benefits and want to work.  C-WICs will:

• provide information about how work will change your benefits
• answer questions about starting or going back to work
• inform you of the may choices available and let you make the decisions
