Recreation

The Riverfront Recreation Program provides a number
of recreational opportunities for both Riverfront participants
and the general public.  Some of the activities coordinated by the Recreation program include Monday night bowling, Tuesday Night Specials, day trips, extended trips, and the Riverfront Singers and Dancers.

Monday night bowling is a larger group activity held at All Star Lanes from 3:30 to 5:00 P.M.  There are approximately 50 people who attend bowling on a weekly basis.

Tuesday Night Specials take place two times per month and offer a wide range of different opportunities.  Some of the activities that have been offered as Tuesday Night Specials include:

  • Rides on the La Crosse Queen or Island Girl
  • Loggers games
  • Flying with Colgan Air Services
  • Shows at the UW-L Planetaruim

Day trips and extended trips offer participants the opportunity to access recreational activities in other parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota.  Past trips include:

  • Going to Valleyfair
  • Green Bay Packer training camp
  • Fishing & camping trips
  • Milwaukee Brewers games
  • Biking the Root River bike trail

Other recreational services include:

  • After Hours Program - connects people who are challenged by mental health issues with social opportunities and recreational activities.

  • Riverfront Dancers - participating members build upon skills they learned the previous year and also learn a new dance routine each season.

  • Riverfront Singers - a singing group that performs for churches and community events throughout the year.  Members of the community are welcome to join the group as well.

  • Travel - this program allows people to travel to places they might never be able to travel to otherwise.  Some past destinations include New York City and South Dakota.  Up next...Orlando, FL.

If you are interested in participating in any recreation activities, or would like more information on the program, please contact Kelly Porter at (608) 784-9450.
