Day Programs to fit your interests and needs
When you participate in our Day Programs, you’ll select from a wide range of group activities lasting anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. There are two sessions of activities in the morning, followed by lunch break, then another session in the afternoon. You pick your own schedule, so you spend each day in activities you like. We maintain a staff-to-participant ratio based on your needs. While most groups are from 6 to 10 people with a ratio of 1:8, we also have groups meeting with a 1:4 staff-to-participant ratio.
“Michelle’s self-esteem has gone up, and she’s become more social with people. It’s been very rewarding for her.”
Larry Hill, participant parent
New group schedules are developed every several months based on suggestions from participants and our staff. You’ll be grouped with people who have similar interests and abilities and will choose from 3 to 5 different groups for each session.
Many group activities are joint ventures with our local communities. Our regular outings to local libraries, fitness centers, parks and historical sites are good examples of the many connections we make with community businesses and organizations.
Here are some of the types of groups we’ve offered on a regular basis.
- Community Outings
- All Things Art
- Drama Club
- Science Experiments
You can spend the whole day with us or if you are working you can come to our day services when you’re not at your job. We have very flexible scheduling.
Our art programs produce a quarterly publication of all sorts of creative work

Your personal care needs won’t hold you back
We welcome everyone to Riverfront; personal care needs shouldn’t stop you from coming. Whether you need gentle reminders or more individualized support, you’ll never be far from work or your classes while managing your personal care. Once you’re ready, we’ll have you back in your group in no time.
For those with more complex personal care needs, we train directly with licensed medical professionals to learn how to provide for your needs during the day. If you need range-of-motion support, for example, your physical therapist can train Riverfront staff members in a program designed for your needs.
Need to incorporate a behavioral health plan into your day?
If you have barriers to meeting your goals because of behavioral problems, you can use the services of our full-time Behavioral Health Specialist at any of our Riverfront Day Services locations.
We’re glad to integrate any plan you already have or develop a new plan to meet your current needs. We understand that challenges like Autism Spectrum Disorder continue into adulthood. We want to help you be as successful as possible while managing your disability. Our specialist will manage your plan and train the staff that works with you to implement it successfully.
Your behavioral health plan is an extra you’ll get at Riverfront for no additional charge. While most behavioral services aren’t covered by your benefits programs, we are able to provide the service to you at no additional charge through a generous donation from the Riverfront Foundation.
